New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio Reworks the 574

0

After a bountiful few years since its FW18 debut, New Balance’s prolific Tokyo Design Studio continues to push boundaries with a stripped back, beefed up version of the iconic Steven Smith-designed New Balance 574.

The New Balance TDS 574 is elegant and rugged at the same time; The model uses classic grey-brown leather over a muted mesh, a cream heel counter, and white laces and accents. While the upper’s paneling generally remains the same from the normal model ever popular 80’s runner, the shoe has been stripped of its N logo and refined to fit a brand-new sole tooling. The shoe uses a Goodyear welt to affix the upper to a stacked, multi-toned midsole that ends in an exaggerated and toothy Vibram rubber outsole. The same uncompromising eye for detail and craftsmanship found in the shoe is extended to an accompanying apparel set, with a set of four socks supplementing a dry cut & sewn garment-dyed hoodie, tee, and sweatpants.

Both the New Balance TDS 574 and the related Garment Dye Heavyweight Dry Cut & Sewn Series will be available via New Balance T-HOUSE and select retailers on May 7th. You can take a peek at the collection down below.
