Back in September, French luxury fashion house KENZO announced a new chapter in its history with the appointment of NIGO as its new artistic director. Today, NIGO showcased his first collection with the LVMH-owned house with a FW22 men’s and women’s runway show in Paris.

Overall, the collection is a fun and colorful blend of streetwear and high fashion. NIGO dug into the KENZO archives and brought out various floral and other archival prints and sprinkled them amongst the pieces. NIGO’s love for denim can be found in a couple of the looks as well. One of the motifs seen included is the tiger, which is important in KENZO’s history as well as a prominent motif in NIGO’s HUMAN MADE label. Its inclusion is also fitting as 2022 is the Year of the Tiger.

Another significant motif to both NIGO and KENZO that can be found on the pieces is the number 1970. This is NIGO’s birth year as well as the year that Kenzo Takada founded the KENZO fashion house. The symbolism goes even further when taking the venue, Galerie Vivienne, into account, as this is the same venue where Kenzo Takada held his first fashion show that same year.

The soundtrack for the show included songs from NIGO’s upcoming album, I KNOW NIGO, with features from A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Pharrell, Kid Cudi, Fam-Lay, Teriyaki Boyz, Pop Smoke, Tyler, the Creator, and more. Of course, the front row was star-studded with many of the aforementioned artists as well as the likes of Kanye West and Julia Fox, A$AP Bari, Gunna, and YOON of AMBUSH.

Check out all the runway looks from the KENZO FW22 men’s and women’s show below. Expect pieces from the collection to be available this upcoming fall/winter on KENZO.com and select retailers.
