Nike Reintroduces the Air Cross Trainer 3 Low

Today, Nike officially announced the return of the Air Cross Trainer 3 Low, a silhouette that was first introduced thirty years ago in 1990. Fans of Supreme may be familiar with this silhouette as photos of two upcoming Supreme x Nike Air Cross Trainer 3 Low colorways have recently leaked.

Before “athleisure” and “dad shoe” joined our everyday vernacular, the fitness boom of the 1980s birthed the idea of the cross trainer. With it, Nike unleashed a string of bold, industry-defining designs suited for wear in the weight room, on the court and across turf. An unintended, but swiftly realized, product of those arresting designs was a versatile adoption by the era’s musical subcultures.

Introduced in 1990, the Air Cross Trainer 3 Low extends aesthetic cues from the Air Trainer SC High, a silhouette that was released as a tribute to dual-sport athlete Bo Jackson. This low-top cross trainer was defined by a subtle upper color scheme, accented by pops of color on the tongue and midsole — a characteristic that remains in its 2020 version.

The Nike Air Cross Trainer 3 Low “Neptune Green” pair is available now via select retailers like Foot Locker and Eastbay, with both the “Neptune Green” and “Hyper Cobalt” colorways launching on nike.com this spring. Also look for the two previously revealed Supreme colorways to make their debut this spring.
