Nike Air Max 1 x Air Huarache DNA Series “87 x 91” Pack

Last November, Nike released a pack consisting of the Air Max 1 and Air Huarache, with each silhouette taking on the other’s OG color schemes. The pack dropped only in Japan, but will soon be getting a global release.

The “87 x 91” pack features two of Tinker Hatfield’s iconic silhouettes, the Air Max 1 created in 1987 and the Air Huarache created in 1991. The AM1 takes on the Huarache’s “Scream Green” colorway with a white, volt, and royal color scheme, while the Huarache is dressed in the AM1’s “Varsity Red” color scheme consisting of red, soft tan, and white.

The switched color scheme is not the only thing special about this pack. The two silhouette’s also adopt some of each other’s signature features. The Air Max 1 borrows the Huarache’s multi-eyelet design, neoprene tongue, and incorporation of plastic with it’s heel clip. The Huarache ditches its circular tongue badge for the Air Max’s square tongue tag and features an AM1 style suede mudguard.

The two sneakers come packaged in a dual-layered box with two pairs of matching socks and a special booklet with info on each silhouette’s history. Look for the DNA Series “87 x 91” pack to release on January 15th for a retail price of $250 USD. Check out the official images below.
