Original Story (09/02/22): In 2017, Nike released a special “Master” colorway of the Air Max 1 to celebrate the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. It featured a mudguard segmented into various section each dressed in colors, prints, and textures that nod to some of the most coveted Air Max 1s over the years. This segmented mudguard design now returns five years later for the Air Max 1’s 35th anniversary, only this time in a “Magma Orange” colorway.
This Air Max 1 uses almost the exact same colors and blocking as 2020’s “Magma Orange” Air Max 1 Anniversary, though materials and hues have been elevated. The breathable mesh upper comes in Light Bone, while suede overlays come in grey. The standout feature is the orange Swooshes and mudguard. The former comes in classic “Safari” print, while the latter is split into sections of various textures and textiles. Rounding out the design is a vintage-like midsole and an outsole split into orange, brown, and grey sections.
