Official Look at the Nike Air Max 1 “Wabi-Sabi”

Original Story (03/02/22): Air Max Day is right around the corner. This year is a special one, as it coincides with the Air Max 1’s 35th anniversary, so you best believe Nike has some tricks up its sleeves. Along with a reveal of the Air Max 1 “La Ville Lumière” by DJ Dani Buck (aka wideawakearthquake), we also have a reveal of the Air Max 1 “Wabi-Sabi” by the Japanese “Queen of Swag” RIEHATA.

This Air Max 1 draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese aesthetics concept of wabi-sabi, which is centered on the appreciation of the imperfections found nature. It comes with a white canvas base paired with suede overlays dressed earthy tones such as beige, olive green, brown, and muted gold. These colors are slightly mismatching across the left and right shoes, adding a level to the “imperfection” theme. Other “imperfect” details are the “cracked” graphics on the midsoles, the haphazardly embroidered Swoosh on the toe, and the double stitching that borders each of the overlays. Additional features include “XXXV” stitched onto the lateral heel, denoting the Air Max 1’s 35th anniversary, and “3.26” on the tongue tag for Air Max Day.

Grab a look at the Nike Air Max 1 PRM “Wabi-Sabi” below. These are slated to drop on Air Max Day, March 26th. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
