Did you know that the design of the Air Max 95 is based on human anatomy? Conceived by Nike designer Sergio Lozano, the Air Max 95 has a lacing system inspired by a set of ribs, a spine-inspired outsole, and a mesh and suede upper representing muscle fibers. Nike is paying homage to this inspiration with a new “Anatomy of Air” series of Air Max 95 colorways.
Three colorways in this series have been revealed so far. The first is a muscle-inspired colorway, featuring premium suede side panels with deco stitching for a fibrous texture. The colors of these panels are a gradient from white to dark red, same as the colors of actual muscles. Additional details include a bone-colored midsole, muscle fiber graphics on the outsole, and twisted rope laces inspired by DNA strands.
The second colorway comes in “Light Bone” and nods to the Air Max 95’s skeletal inspirations. The premium suede upper comes in a mix of light greys this time around, while the midsole is covered in a bone-inspired pattern. As a finishing touch, the outsoles are glow-in-the-dark and features bone graphics underfoot.
The final colorway nods to how the human spine inspired the Air Max 95’s outsole. The uppers are constructed in various textiles in darker brown and red hues. Spine graphics appear on both the heels and the outsoles.
The Nike Air Max 95 “Anatomy of Air” in the “Muscle” and “Bone” colorways are available now on SNKRS, Nike.com, and at select retailers worldwide. The “Spine” colorway will release at a later date. Check out all three pairs below.
