Nike Brings Back the OG Air Max 96 II “Goldenrod”

0

As we watch the most cherished ’90s sneakers resurface from Nike over the last few years, the Air Max 96 II “Goldenrod” has been the latest to come out of the tightly sealed vault.

After 25 years since its first release, the Air Max 96 II is a key transition piece of the Air Max legacy. Resurfacing in one of it’s most notable colorways, the OG AM96II “Goldenrod” is constructed of rigid dark navy mesh on the upper’s base layer and clean white leather overlays. The classic “Goldenrod” hue is represented on the racing stripe that stems from the rear of the mudguard, crosses over the Swoosh, and rests on the heel. “Goldenrod” mini swooshes are also featured on the toe box and on the lateral under the eyestays.

The newest build is closer to the OG model than the 2016 Air Max 96 XX, using the original mold for the sole rather than altering it for the 20th anniversary variant. It should be noted, however, that the Air unit volume at the heel is significantly smaller than the original.

An official release date has yet to be announced for the Nike Air Max 96 II “Goldenrod,” so stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more updates and check out official images below.
