Original Story (05/03/21): While last year’s Nike Air Force 1 “Puerto Rico” release was cancelled due to a production error (backwards flag on the tongue), Nike will be making up for it this year with a “Puerto Rico” Air Max 97.
The Nike Air Max 97 “Puerto Rico” is a reworking on the OG “Silver Bullet” colorway, dressed in metallic silver leather and mesh with Varsity Red accents. The Puerto Rican flag appears on the tongue loop and on the outsoles, while the insoles read “Aquí Me Quedo,” a Spanish phrase that translates to “I’m Here to Stay.” The release also comes with a towel that reads “Puerto Rico Te Quiero” (Puerto Rico I Love You).
With this year’s National Puerto Rican Day Parade scheduled for June 13th, look for the Nike Air Max 97 “Puerto Rico” to arrive in early June just in time for the festivities. Grab a first look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates on this release.
