Patent leather was big in 1996 and it became even more famous, when it was featured on the Air Jordan 11 and a few Air Force 1’s. Ken Griffey Jr also experienced patent leather on his signature shoe, during the 1996 All Star MLB season. Unlike the nubuck Nike Air Max Griffey 1’s we’re used to seeing, this version featured a patent leather upper with a colorway similar to the “Volt” version that released last year.
