The Nike Air Raid OG is Getting a Retro Release

0

After Jerry Lorenzo’s high-profile Fear of God reinterpretation of the model, it looks like the original Air Raid is getting a retro in the near future.

Designed by Nike legend Tinker Hatfield and originally released in 1992, the Nike Air Raid was the Swoosh’s answer to the specific needs of asphalt/outdoor basketball. The shoe is visually and technically extremely rugged: beefy black treaded outsole bumpers give way to crisscrossing grey straps across the upper. The shoe’s Air-equipped midsole rises to cup the wearer’s heel, and tumbled leather, durable mesh, and nubuck paneling complete the shoe’s look and provide intense lockdown support. While most of the shoe comes in a gently shining black, the shoe’s straps and toebox see hits of matte grey atop a white foam midsole.

While there’s no official information on pricing or release date thus far, stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates on the 2020 retro of the Nike Air Raid OG. In the meantime, check out the official product images below as well as a playful Spike Lee commercial for the model from 1992.
