Nike Introduces the Air Sesh Shoe For Dancers

Nike has long since been inspired by athletes, starting off as runner-focused company in 1964. For its latest model, Nike focuses on a specific type of athlete, the dancer.

The Nike Air Sesh, designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, is equipped with grip-and-glide rubber soles and flex grooves that are ideal for the control and articulation that dancers demand. The shoe is lightweight, durbale, and flexible, with Zoom Air heel cushioning and a Cushlon foam midsole for extra comfort and support. Another dancer-inspired feature is the wider toe box, offering room for your toes to spread more naturally to maintain a stable connection to the floor. For added style, the Swoosh takes a reverse placement on the medial side and a glow-in-the-dark Swoosh appears on the outsole.

Los Angeles-based dance crew The Kinjaz had a say in the design, helping Hatfield balance the innovation and style. After wear-testing the new Air Sesh, members of the the Kinjaz said the shoe “feels like cheating” as a dancer. Three colorways of the Air Sesh has been unveiled, with the debut colorway drawing similarities to the Nike Cortez. Follow-up colorways come in black/white and white with green accents and playful graphics in black.

The Nike Air Sesh in the Cortez-inspired colorway is available now for select members on Nike.com. A global release will come later this year along with follow-up colorways.
