Nike Air Trainer 1 OG “Chlorophyll” Release Date

Original Story (02/24/22): The Nike Air Trainer 1 was first introduced in 1987 as a multi-purpose training shoe that can perform well in a variety of physical activities. The model was made popular when John McEnroe famously debuted a prototype of the pair on the tennis court ahead of its public release. 35 years later, Nike is now bringing back the model in its OG form.

The OG “Chlorophyll” colorway of the Air Trainer 1 has seen a handful of retros over the years, even receiving an SB version in 2020. This 2022 retro, however, stands out from the rest, as it has been designed to be as true as possible to the original. The OG perforations on the toe box and side panels make their return, the tongue tag reads “Air Trainer” instead of “Air Trainer 1,” and the shade of green more closely resembles the green used on prototype that McEnroe debuted in ’86. The shoebox even features the original grey-striped with red lid design.

The 2022 Nike Air Trainer 1 OG “Chlorophyll” has already released at some retailers in Asia and Brazil (Your ID, Maze). Look for these to drop stateside later this year on Nike.com and at select retailers. Check out the photos below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
