The Nike Air Trainer 3 Returns in 2002 “Viotech” Colorway

Continuing their recent run of Viotech releases, Nike has announced that the Air Trainer 3 will be the next archival silhouette to receive a retro in the bold colorway.

The multi-sport trainer was first released in 1988, but it’s since become a veritable classic of Nike’s back catalogue due to its timeless design, supportive mid-top construction and visible Air cushioning. In fact, a modified version of the model was even seen in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman; if it’s good enough for the Caped Crusader, you know it’s something special.

This time around, though, the silhouette is the latest in Nike’s slate of Viotech retros, following up the Dunk Low release this past December. The Air Trainer 3 originally released in Viotech in 2002, and the 2020 edition stays true to its roots: The model’s striking, purple leather upper is accented by an electric-yellow swoosh and midsole, with the entire thing locked down by cool gray overlays.

The Air Trainer 3 “Viotech” is scheduled to drop through Nike SNKRS and select retailers on June 1st for $130 USD. Grab an official look below.
