Nike Unveils Its “Be True” Summer 2022 Collection

Since 2019, NIKE, Inc. has provided $2.7 million in support of LGBTQIA2S+ causes. From supporting its own employees with tools such as the company’s Gender Identity and Transition policy and guidelines, to standing with organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, GenderCool and GLAAD, Nike continues to take strides to create a more inclusive world. The Swoosh now unveils its Be True collection for Summer 2022, created to celebrate and uplift the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

The 2022 Be True collection looks beyond the traditional rainbow with designs that are unique, blend colors, and symbolize fluidity. The Nike SB Dunk Low “Be True” reveals what it means to be you with a classic white upper that rubs away to reveal an array of color beneath. In the same way that none of us are exactly alike, athletes can customize this rub-away detail or allow for natural wear as well as select from a variety of lace colors to make it uniquely one-of-a-kind. A pair of Nike SB “Be True” shorts accompany the Dunks.

The Nike Cortez “Be True” is a fresh take on motion and fluidity with vibrant, overlapping swooshes that energize and blur the traditional rainbow. Rounding out the footwear is the Nike Oneonta “Be True” sandal, lightweight and durable with gradient, colorful straps. The collection also includes a “Be True” tee and hoodie. Representing fluidity, the apparel styles feature a tie-dye pattern that is unique to each piece.

The Be True collection is accompanied by an intimate and thoughtfully curated video that features conversations that explore the deep issues impacting the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Hosted by Andrew McCaskill and featuring Aleshia Ocasio, Chella Man, Schuyler Bailar and Honey Balenciaga, the conversation centers on safe spaces in sport and ways of creating a way forward for generations to come.
