With other sneaker brands prepping to release their Halloween versions of shoes, Nike is taking a classic shoe and putting a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) inspiration on it. The Day of the Dead, celebrated in Mexico on Oct. 31, is a day where family and friends celebrate the spiritual journey of loved ones that have passed. The classic sneaker, the Nike Cortez, was chosen as a tribute to the special holiday in this new colorway.
The base of the shoe is comprised of black premium suede and nylon. There are etchings of skulls, flowers, and other designs that pays homage to Dia de los Muertos on the sides of the shoe. The Nike Cortez is finished off with navy and orange “Swoosh” logos on each side.
This is a standout amongst other Halloween themed sneakers that are about to hit the market. These will be releasing on Oct. 29th at retailers like WishATL. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
