Original Story (04/28/21): Nike Basketball created the NY vs NY high school basketball tournament in 2017 to shine a spotlight on the best hoop talent that the five boroughs have to offer. In the following years, Nike has released various “NY vs NY” themed sneakers, such as 2019’s Air Force 1 and Air Edge 270. The Swoosh keeps the celebration of New York City streetball alive in 2021 with a new Nike Dunk Low.
The Nike Dunk Low “NY vs NY” features a sage green, orange, and white color scheme, with smooth sage green leather used for the base and the same hue used for its nylon tongue. White tumbled leather overlays are found throughout, while a metallic orange Swoosh with lighter orange stitching graces the side panels. Additional orange hits are found on the tongue tag, heel branding, and the “NY vs NY” branding embroidered on the lateral heel. The shoe also features an icy translucent outsole with the names of various NYC parks that play host to local basketball tournaments, including Dyckman Park, West 4th, Watson, Lincoln Park, Tri State and Gersh Park.
Look for the Nike Dunk Low “NY vs NY” to release later this year via SNKRS and select retailers. Grab a first look at this upcoming pair below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
