The Nike ISPA Drifter Gator Literally Has You Covered

Nike ISPA has had a huge 2020.

The Swoosh’s experimental footwear division made huge waves this summer with a massive round of releases that included the ISPA Road Warrior, one of this year’s most talked-about silhouettes and certainly one of the more visually (and technically) unique shoes the brand has ever released. The model even caught the attention of Kanye West, and while the shoe’s design was incredibly polarizing, the latest round of ISPA releases worked harder than the division ever has before to advance their vision of adaptable footwear for the city commuter.

Now, however, the ISPA team is moving on from summer fun to gear you up for unpredictable fall weather. The Nike ISPA Drifter Gator is a retooling of the split-toe ISPA Drifter seen earlier this year with a folded-in surprise: a deployable, almost knee-high weatherproof gator to protect you from the elements at a moment’s notice. The branded shield packs tightly into a zip pouch fused to the heel of the shoe, which sits atop Nike Regrind ZoomX foam (the company’s flagship marathon running foam).

The ISPA Drifter Gator comes in two colorways; while one is primarily white with orange accents and a bright orange gator, the other is a subdued navy and black with Volt accents and a Volt gator. The shoes somewhat resemble the Drifter from earlier this summer, though they’ve done away with the split tabi toebox and have made minor adjustments to accommodate the pouch on the shoe’s heel.

Look out for the Nike ISPA Drifter Gator to release for $220 on October 8th via Nike’s website and the SNKRS app (Hyper Crimson/Coastal Blue), as well as select retailers.
