Nike and LeBron James Unveil the Nike LEBRON 18 “Jade”

After an official announcement from Nike and a subsequent sighting at a Lakers practice, it appears that we have our first look at the LeBron 18.

Earlier this week, Nike released information on the design process behind the shoe (without revealing actual pictures of the model). The LeBron 18 features a split design, with the heel/rear representing armor and strength with a beefy Max Air unit and reinforcement for stability, while the front represents speed and agility. The shoe features a first-of-its-kind combined Max Air and full-length Zoom Air unit for supreme comfort and responsiveness on-court. LeBron models have generally been grounds for Nike to try out all-knew knit uppers, and the 18 seems to be no different: the shoe uses “raised dimensions from the 15’s Battleknit, the high-tenacity yarns from the 16 and the TPU yarns that composed the 17’s exoskeleton.” Finally, the LeBron 18 features an all-new style of cosmetic Air in the shoe’s tongue and improved traction on the outsole.

While there’s no word on specifics yet, the LeBron 18 is set to release sometime in September of this year. James has worn at least two distinct colorways of the shoe — one black and purple and one that appears to feature glow-in-the-dark paneling — with many more likely to follow.
