Nike SB Dunk Low “What The P-Rod” Release Info

0

Original Story (03/02/21): Nike SB and pro skater Paul Rodriguez have a long history together. Rodriguez was first sponsored by Nike in 2004, leading to the release of the P-Rod 1 in 2005. Many signature P-Rod models and collaborations have released through the years since then. The two are now celebrating their long history together with the release of the Nike SB Dunk Low “What The P-Rod.”

The shoe is an amalgamation of various Paul Rodriguez x Nike SB releases, with each panel calling back references to a famous release from the skater’s partnership with the Swoosh. The right shoe’s toe box, for example, comes covered in the “Mexican Blanket” theme from one of the original 2005 P-Rod shoes. The gold dubrae on the laces is a callback to a more recent release, last year’s “Mexican Boxing” SB Dunk High. Cement print is found on the mudguard on the left shoe, paying homage to the “J-Rod” releases in collaboration with Jordan Brand, while the sockliners come with a quilted texture, a design cue introduced in the P-Rod 2.
