Nike Announces “The Evolution of the Swoosh” Packs

0

Nike is set to release three shoe packs next month to celebrate the evolution of the Swoosh. The swoosh itself was first created in 1971 by graphic design student Carolyn Davidson and underwent numerous articulations in the 1970s. Now, those designs are being honored across multiple shoes like the Air Max, Air Force 1 and React Element 55 silhouettes.

Script Swoosh Pack

This pack overlays Davidson’s hand-drawn Swoosh on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus and React Element 55. Each shoe will have the Script Swoosh on the side.

Sunburst Pack

The Sunburst logo was developed in 1972 as a result of trying to put the Swoosh on apparel. The circular nature of this pack allowed for club names to be placed around it – a popular feature used in collegiate sportswear in that time. The Sunburst Pack also places the logo on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus and React Element 55.

Swoosh Chain Pack

The Swoosh Chain was also created to adapt the Swoosh onto apparel and was intended to embellish tracksuits and other garments that employ taping. This pack comes in ’70s color schemes across the Air Force 1, Air Max 97 and Air Max Plus and will only come in kids sizes.

Take a look at the shoes in each pack below. The Script Swoosh pack releases on August 10, the Sunburst Pack releases on August 31 in men’s sizes, and the Swoosh Chain Pack releases on August 17 in kid’s sizes at Foot Locker, Inc. locations and online (Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Eastbay, Footaction).
