The Nike Space Hippie Collection Goes “Volt”

Original Story (07/02/20): Just as the debut Space Hippie collection has begun to make a splash in the scene, Nike has already readied a sister collection for the initial release.

Comprised of the same Space Hippie 01, 02, 03, and 04 silhouettes, the new collection doesn’t seem to change much in terms of physical construction, sans for the addition of Volt accents to the collection’s primarily dark grey color palette. All Space Hippie shoes feature an upper made of Space Waste yarn—Nike’s new blend of up to 90% recycled fabric made from clothing, waste plastic and shoe knit scraps—and a midsole made with a blend of recycled ZoomX scraps and Crater Foam, a blend of durable cushioning and Nike Grind flecks.

The Space Hippie 01 trades orange for Volt and light gray for dark gray, coming equipped with soft blue-gray laces and a bright green Swoosh. The 02s take a similar approach, though the white grid patterning found on the initial Space Hippie 02 colorway is traded here for black, making it much more prominent on the overall design. By far the most striking of the pack, the Space Hippie 03 transitions gracefully into the new colorway with orange and green marbling on the exposed FastFit system. Finally, the Women’s Space Hippie 04, a sleek, low-cut runner, comes in a similar gray-green color scheme with a unique black lacing system.

The entire Space Hippie “Volt” pack is set to release July 15th on Nike SNKRS JP, though the Volt Space Hippie 04 drops stateside on July 3rd. Take a look at the redressed models down below and stay tuned for a possible stateside release of the Space Hippie “Volt” 01, 02, and 03.

Update (07/03/20): Following today’s instant sell-out debut of the Space Hippie collection, models 01, 02, and 03 return in a second “Volt” colorway on Nike SNKRS US on July 16th.
