Two of Nike’s big focuses over the past few years have undoubtedly been deconstructed design language and a greater focus on women’s releases. Both of these trends are now combining into one lifestyle release from the Swoosh: the Nike WMNS Waffle Racer 2x.
This new model is a modern reinterpretation of one of Nike’s most famous shoes ever released that combines DIY aesthetics with futuristic materials and construction. According to Nike, the silhouette has been recontoured to better fit women’s feet and offers greater comfort and support than the traditional model. Additionally, the shoe’s taped and over-patterned aesthetics lend a significantly more modern look to the shoe; the model features a translucent ripstop upper with overcut suede eyestays and toe guards, an outlined swoosh, and decorative taping accents for a refreshed look. The shoe is tied together by translucent heel branding and details that reflect the original Waffle Racer’s patent number.
