Following an official reveal of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s second signature basketball, the Nike Zoom Freak 2, we now have an exclusive look at its debut colorway, the green and white “Naija.”
“Obviously, I was born in Greece and went to school in Greece. But at the end of the day when I go home, there is no Greek culture,” says Giannis. “It’s straight-up Nigerian culture.”
Giannis pays tribute to his Nigerian heritage with this green and white colorway, named “Naija,” a word that Nigerians use for their native land. The shoe comes in the country’s official colors and features vibrant green zig-zag patterns on the tongue and heel, similar to those on the Nigerian soccer team’s jerseys. This is a nod to Giannis’ father Charles, who was a soccer player himself and used the sport to bond with his sons. The upper itself is dressed in Pure Platinum and is covered in a leafy pattern.
The Nike Zoom Freak 2 makes it debut in the “Naija” colorway on July 25th via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.
