Italian sportswear brand Stone Island has joined forces with Nike to revamp the iconic Windrunner Jacket. The classic apparel, seen on everyone from runners to b-boys, is looking to make a strong run for 2016. Created in the ’70s, The jacket was Nike’s first foray into apparel. With the help of Stone Island, “The Year of the Windrunner” is looking to make it hard on the competition.
Stone Island’s outerwear is known for its innovative fabrics that is constructed to protect you from many elements. The jackets come in multiple monochromatic colors but mimic the Windrunner’s signature colorblocking through a process of Stone Island’s dyeing process. A silver PrimaLoft liner is applied to create a contrast for the monochromatic scheme and keep you warm.
The chevron and hood of the jacket is created to be wind and water resistant courtesy of the Mussola Gommata, which is formed by bonding lightweight cotton muslin to an opaque polyurethane film. Stone Island’s go-to fabric, Nylon Metal is applied to the whole jacket creating a consistent sheen.
The collection will be released alongside with a Koth Ultra Hiker, that is built to be water-resistant as well. The sneakerboots will be packaged in a Stone Island branded dustbag made from Nylon Metal. The collection will be releasing December 17 at select NikeLab retailers and Stone Island Flagship stores, alongside each brand’s webstore.
