How to Get the Off-White x Nike Air Rubber Dunk

Initially revealed back in February as part of Nike’s Olympic “Future Sport Forum” event, a release for the Off-White x Nike Air Rubber Dunk has now been officially been announced.

“Highlighting the Air is part of the early logic of the collaboration,” says Virgil Abloh. “The shoe is about incorporating past ideas in a new era — designing with purpose and cultural relevance to come up with something new.”

Virgil Abloh chose to make a variation of the Dunk to commemorate skateboarding’s Olympic debut in Tokyo, though the shoe also features an upper inspired by ’90s and early 2000s technical runners (i.e. the P-6000). “We loved the extra overlays, offsets and printing that went into running shoes of this era,” notes Gerald Sullivan, Nike Design Director of Collaborations.

The colorways of the Rubber Dunk are references to different eras. The gold celebrates the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, the white is homage to general release color schemes of the 2000s and the black is a modern day colorway. “A black sneaker is my go-to for everyday life,” says Abloh.

The Nike x Off-White Rubber Dunk releases globally on October 1st in extended adult, pre-school and toddler sizing on SNKRS, and at nike.com and select retailers. Each colorway will release with exclusive regional availability: “Green Strike” in the Americas; “University Gold” in China and Asia-Pacific; and the “University Blue” across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. To cop a colorway that’s not releasing in your region, your best bet is most likely sites like StockX and eBay.
