Nike Announces Release of the Off-White Blazer Low

Nike has officially announced the release of the Off-White x Nike Blazer Low. This marks the first Off-White x Nike product to drop since the passing of Off-White founder Virgil Abloh last November.

When images of the White/University Red and Black/Electro Green colorways first surfaced last summer, there were definitely some mixed reactions. Though the “Meteor” hole motif has appeared on Off-White purses, hats, and more, sneakerheads don’t particularly want holes on the uppers of their shoes. The heel clip on the midsole is also a point of contention, though fans of the Air Terra Humara may appreciate the reference to the tooling of the late ’90s trail running shoe.

According to Nike’s description, the Off-White Blazer Low is “[t]rue to Virgil Abloh’s wide-ranging and open-source take on product development and modification” and “brings together a multi-disciplinary, multi-sport aesthetic.” Abloh drew from Nike’s archive of basketball, skateboarding, and trail running silhouettes and fused designs together with the idea of “mixing languages for a new signature.”

These are not the last Nike shoes designed by Virgil Abloh that will release to the public. Still on the way is the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid. There are also rumors that the green Off-White Air Force 1 will release as part of the opening of Virgil Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum in July.

The Off-White x Nike Blazer Low drops on Friday, April 8th on SNKRS and at select retailers, in accordance with Abloh’s wishes and in partnership with his wife Shannon Abloh. Check out official images below.
