The Pokémon Company has released a trailer for their new mobile game, Pokémon Masters, created in partnership with DeNA.

The game is based on the artificial island of Pasio and instead of catching Pokémon, players create teams of three using Pokémon trainers from past games who have come to the island to participate in the Pokémon Masters League. Each trainer is paired with a Pokémon and together they’re called a “sync pair.” An example of one sync pair would be the Trainer Brock and his bouldery Pokémon partner, Onix. As you battle other teams, you collect badges, with the goal of becoming the champions of the Pokémon Masters League.

Leaving behind the traditional turn-based battle sequence of most Pokémon games, Pokémon Masters 3v3 battle sequences happen in real-time with the use of a move gauge that slowly fills up. Once the gauge is full, a move can be Exeggcute-ed on your opponent. Trainers in the game will also have special moves to provide support to their Pokémon.

The mobile game is slated to release in Summer 2019. Stay tuned for more Pokémon Masters news as well as an official release date.
