Reebok Introduces Ultra-Sustainable, Plant-Based Runner

Reebok is set to make a significant leap forward for sustainable footwear design with the release of the Forever Floatride GROW, an entirely plant-based and ultra-high-tech running shoe.

The model is USDA-certified and is made from a variety of innovative and naturally-derived materials; for example, eucalyptus bark provides the basis for the shoe’s upper, castor beans make up the model’s cushioned and responsive midsole, and naturally odor-resistant algae forms the shoe’s sockliner and footbed.

Reebok has partnered with Boston-based Siena Farms to launch the shoe and is giving away a CSA (community-supported agriculture) produce box to the first 50 customers within the United States. The shoes and half-bushel of fresh vegetables will come in a sustainable wood crate, and the entire special edition box will be available exclusively to Reebok UNLOCKED members.

The shoe releases both via UNLOCKED and Reebok’s website (Men’s/Women’s) on October 1st for $120. You can check out photos of the model down below.
