Reebok Unveils the Ghostbusters “Ghost Smashers”

Reebok is set to toss their hat into the Halloween sneaker ring with an outlandish duo of shoes inspired by the massively popular Ghostbusters franchise.

Doing justice to a veritable cultural icon, the Reebok Ghost Smashers and accompanying spooky revamp of the Classic Leather look readymade to take on any ghost-busting expedition. The Ghost Smasher, a reconfiguration of the Reebok Alien Stomper (originally created for the movie Alien), features a miniature Proton Pump attached to the model’s heel with articulated “metal” arms. Tubes much like those found on the “Gru’s Lab” Question Mid snake from the bottom of the slime-green Proton chamber to the shoe’s heel counters.

The model’s upper is primarily white, though the entire silhouette has been distressed and slightly yellowed for a vintage, battle-worn look. The sneaker’s strap branding panel is painted over with a haphazard caution-tape drawing, and the model is finished off with printed mechanical details on both straps and Ghostbusters logo branding on the tongue.

The Classic Leather, on the other hand, mirrors the Ghostbusters gang’s beige canvas coveralls with a matching upper. Reebok branding clearly reminiscent of the characters’ name patches graces the eyestay panel, while a quilted olive sockliner provides further nods to the paranormal workwear seen in the films. The shoe is finished with a rubberized Ghostbusters tongue badge, a printed “DON’T CROSS THE STREAMS” insole, a hit of caution tape near the model’s heel, and embossed “READY TO/BELIEVE YOU” text on the shoe’s black heel tabs.

The Reebok Ghostbusters Collection is set to drop on Halloween at midnight EST via reebok.com. The models will be priced at $150 and $100 respectively, and each comes in special-edition Ghostbusters packaging. You can take a look at photos of the shoes down below.
