Terrell “Rello” Jones may have recently shifted his focus away from streetwear and towards fine art, though his passion for fashion will always be there. The Chicago-based artist and designer has partnered up with Stadium Goods’ in-house label STADIUM on the release of two limited-edition varsity jackets that serve as wearable art pieces.
The Rello x Stadium Goods Varsity Jacket comes in blue and red colorways and features Rello’s signature Ozzy the Bad Mouse character on the left chest and back. Both colorways are made from premium wool with cream leather sleeves and come with a green quilted inner lining for warmth and comfort. Additional details include Rello’s flower characters on the left sleeve and a Stadium Goods x Rello earth logo on the right. This earth logo also appears on the tag inside the jacket.
Rello also added a short mission statement on the right chest, which reads “Art is for everyone. It lives through the imaginations of the people. Without them there is no art.” Each jacket is individually numbered with chenille patches on the right pocket, nodding to the apparel-as-art theme of the project.
To celebrate the launch, Stadium Goods has created a special installation at its Chicago location. The outer windows, glass balustrading on the staircase, and walls of the premium sneaker and streetwear boutique have been decked out in Rello’s artwork. The mission statement found on the varsity jackets can also be seen on the staircase wall.
The entire second floor of Stadium Goods Chicago has also been curated by Rello, stocked with the new varsity jackets as well a tee that released as part of Rello’s new “Can Love Float If It’s Full of Hot Air” art collection. One of the display cases on this floor has been filled with some of Rello’s previous works, including an unreleased sample of his Fat Tiger Workshop x adidas collab. Another case has been filled with sneakers curated by Rello, highlighting Chicago designers such as Virgil Abloh, Kanye West, and his fellow Fat Tiger Workshop co-founders Joe Freshgoods, Des Money, and Vic Lloyd.
The Rello x STADIUM Varsity Jacket is available now on the Stadium Goods website and in-store at Stadium Goods’ Chicago and NYC locations.
