Though spending most of his career straying away from collaborations, the recluse Rick Owens has recently opened up to the world, revealing collaborations with the likes of Converse and Dr. Martens. Now, Rick Owens presents his second collection with Champion, following up their SS20 debut.
Rick Owens continues to draw inspiration from Ancient Greece for this Spring/Summer season, projecting this influence onto signature Champion sportswear. Owens’ niche style shines on the collection’s hoodie, which features additional armholes and an extra hood at the base of the garment. Other capsule pieces include sweatpants, tees, shorts, and notably, jockstraps.
The lineup doesn’t stop there, accessories including athletic-inspired caps, headbands, bucket hats, tote bags, pocket purses, and face coverings also compose the collection. The collaborators add personalization through a Rick Owens logo alongside Champion branding on some pieces, while others adorn embroidery of Owens’ pentagram logo. Throughout the collection, Owens uses recycled nylons, organic cotton, and locally sourced materials. Plastic-free packaging produced from biodegradable materials and recycled paper is also used for environmental friendliness.
The Rick Owens x Champion SS21 Collection will be available beginning March 26th via the Champion webstore, Rick Owens’ site, and select retailers.
