Rick Owens Debuts the DRKSHDW x Converse TURBODRK Chuck 70

Legendary fashion iconoclast, Rick Owens, has debuted an eccentric collaboration with Converse during the Rick Owens Gethsemane Fall/Winter 2021 show on Venice Lido today.

Rick Owens credits his image of Converse to the American ’70s/’80s punk rock band, The Ramones. As the band tore through the music scene with their shaggy hair, beat-up jeans and biker jackets, Owens quickly associated the Converse sneakers they wore with punk rock and a life full of freedom and expression.

Owens’ signature contemporary minimalism came through for the design as it is the first Converse model ever, in its century of existence, to square-off the toe and add a dramatic elongated tongue. On the distortion of the classic model, Owens says, “maybe it’s some kind of adolescent rage, but thats one of the greatest appeals of the Chuck Taylor All Star.” It will be releasing in a classic black/white colorway, however the collection itself will expand in more sneakers throughout 2021.

The Rick Owens DRKSHDW x Converse TURBODRK Chuck 70 will be arriving in the near future on Converse’s dedicated DRKSHDW webpage in a unisex run with pricing from $165 to $170 USD. Check out on-foot images of the shoe from the Rick Owens Gethsemane FW21 show, as well as a livestream video of the entire show, below.
