The Converse Weapon came out in 1986 and dominated the NBA upon its arrival, worn by everyone from Larry Bird to Magic Johnson. Nowadays, the classic basketball model is not talked about as much and has remained largely dormant over the last few years. However, the Weapon is now looking to makes its return to the limelight. An updated version of the Weapon is included in the recently unveiled CX lineup, and now Rick Owens is teasing his own version of the classic model.

Original Converse Weapon (1986)

A teaser image shared by Rick Owens shows a close-up shot of the original Converse Weapon’s tongue, with penned markings showing plans to elongate the tongue and add DRKSHDW branding to the tongue tag. This falls in line with the design cues used on the TURBODRK Chuck 70, Rick Owens’ version of the classic Chuck Taylor that is set to launch this fall. While no other images of the DRKSHDW Weapon have been made available, we can expect to see the designer’s signature avante-garde aesthetic throughout the shoe.

Check out Rick Owens’ teaser photo of the DRKSHDW x Converse Weapon below. We likely won’t see a release until late 2021 or sometime in 2022. Until then, stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
