Ronnie Fieg and ASICS go together like Drake and 21 Savage. The partnership, which has lasted for over a decade, continues with a new project featuring the EX89 silhouette.
The EX89 originally released in the late ’80s as the GEL-EXTREME, a performance basketball silhouette that came in both high-top and low-top versions. It was designed by Toshikazu Kayano, who would go onto create the famous ASICS KAYANO line. The silhouette made its NBA debut in 1988, worn by two members of the Showtime Lakers: Kurt Rambis and Michael Cooper.
Over 30 years, later Kith founder Ronnie Fieg brings back the silhouette as the EX89, with colorways that pay homage to his hometown team, the New York Knicks. First teased in the Kith x Spider-Man comic book, the project includes three low-top colorways that will be released to the public. One is dressed primarily in orange suede, another in off-white suede. For the third, Fieg opts for a white leather build with cream overlays, a blue sockliner, and orange accents.
The orange and off-white suede colorways of the Ronnie Fieg x ASICS EX89 will release this coming Monday, November 7th at all Kith shops, on Kith.com (11am ET), EU.Kith.com (11am CET), and the Kith app. The white leather colorway will be a surprise Kithstrike at a later date.
