Since their rise to fame in the early ’80s, New York rap group Run-DMC has been breaking down barriers and setting trends all while being one of the most successful and influential hip-hop groups of all time. The trio’s wardrobe prominently featured adidas Originals tracksuits and sneakers. They even showed love to the Three Stripes on wax with their 1986 hit song “My adidas,” which helped popularize the adidas Superstar as hip-hop’s premier sneaker.

Run-DMC and adidas have collaborated on releases over the years, teaming up again in 2020 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Superstar. According to PY_RATES, the collection will feature two Superstars, one in “Black/Ftwr White/Hi-Res Red”, another in “Ftw Wht/C Black/Hi-Res Red,” plus a third sneaker also in a “Ftw Wht/C Black/Hi-Res Red” color scheme.

The Run-DMC x adidas Superstar 50th Anniversary collection is expected to arrive in April with each sneaker in the collection retailing for $150 USD. No images of the collection have surfaced yet, so stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for a first look and any additional updates.
