Original Story (01/12/21): No stranger is Salehe Bembury to posting sneak peeks of upcoming releases on Instagram. The former Versace Men’s Footwear VP took to the app to show followers a glimpse of the next release in partnership with New Balance.
The post, opportunely captioned “Water.” features a display of the heel-end of a second 2002R, a follow-up to the first colorway released in October 2020. From what we can see, Salehe has shown off his love of textures and colorplay once again throughout the shoe, from fuzzy suede to fingerprint-like maze patterns to a speckled orange element at the white base. The silhouette will likely follow an aquatic theme, as hinted with Bembury’s initial caption, with neon green net-inspired webbing along the construction of the shoe and different shades of blue. The New Balance “N” may also take on a contrasting color and texture as the grey fuzz one in the first colorway. Though it’s unclear which branding elements Salehe has incorporated throughout the silhouette, one can assume he’ll stay consistent to his signatures.
As anticipation grows on the designer’s social media for Bembury’s Spunge brand and future releases, we can expect this shoe not to disappoint. Check out the teaser image and mock-up below and keep it locked to Modern Notoriety for more details as they’re announced.
