Salomon Serves Up Gorpcore Excellence in FW20 Collection

While Salomon is largely known for their high-performance mountain gear, their crispy and highly technical look started to infiltrate high-fashion circles during the rise of gorpcore in 2017 to 2018. This style received its name from the colloquial term for trail mix, “Good Ol’ Raisins and Peanuts.”

Years later, a series of collaborations with brands like Palace, Boris Bidjan Saberi, and The Broken arm (as well as many of their S-LAB releases) have marked formal forays into the world of streetwear and cemented themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Salomon’s FW20 range is presented in three different collections that pay perfect homage to Salomon’s current status and unmatched legacy: Sneakers, Advanced, and Intersection.

The sneakers see the brand reworking their performance-focused gear for a more street-friendly user and includes the XT-6, XT-WINGS 2 and the ever-popular SPEEDCROSS 3. The Sneakers subsection also showcases the highly technical XT-QUEST and XA-COMP silhouettes. The Advanced line is inspired by the experiences of ultra trail runners but still incorporates eye-catching gradient patterning and color schemes on the XT-4 ADVANCED. The collection is rounded out by the cozy RX SNOW MOC, the more avant-garde X-ALPINE MID, an XA PRO FUSION and another XT-6. Finally, the Intersection line serves as a platform for the brand’s collaborations with others. While releases with Japanese legends and Wander and Fumito Ganryu have already been confirmed, the brand plans to announce more collaborations over the course of the season.

The Salomon FW20 collection will begin releasing via select Salomon stockists and Salomon locations this month. Another drop for the season is set to happen at some point later this year. In the meantime, check out photos of the collection down below as well as on Salomon’s website.
