Jersey City boutique Sneaker Room and Kyrie Irving continue their annual “I Love You Mom” sneaker series with the release of two special edition iterations of the Nike Kyrie 7. The project began in 2017 with the Kyrie 3, followed by the Kyrie 5 in 2019 and Kyrie 6 in 2020, with each release dedicated to moms, specifically Sneaker Room owner Suraj Kaufman’s late mother Ellen and Kyrie’s late mother Elizabeth.
This year’s release takes a bit of a different approach and honors the mother that birthed all of us, Mother Earth. The inspiration for this comes from the ideologies of Native Americans, specifically the Standing Rock tribe that Irving’s mother belong to. With Mother Nature in mind, two mismatching pairs were created that represent the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water.
The Sneaker Room x Nike Kyrie 7 launches on Thursday, January 20th at 10am EST on the Sneaker Room website. The yellow and green pair is priced at $175 and is limited to 1,996 units, while the orange and blue set is limited to 525 and priced at $250. Like the previous drops, 100% of the proceeds go towards charity, benefitting New Jersey community programs and organizations, as well as the Jersey City Medical Center. Check them out below.
