Original Story (07/01/22): Following a couple early looks and teasers, Social Status officially announces the release of its Air Max Penny 1 “Recess” collaboration.
This latest collaboration with Nike continues the storyline started with the “Free Lunch” Dunks, exploring the experiences of Black students outside of the classroom. A major component to this is sports, and the interchangeable Swooshes on the shoes represent the various sports that are played during break and after school. The release announcement is joined by a “Recess” short film directed by Turner Brothers for Dreadhead Films that explores this concept further.
The Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Recess” in Black and Desert Sand launches online on July 15th on the Social Status website. An online raffle will also run from July 2nd at 10am ET to July 7th at 5pm ET. Check out the short film above and campaign imagery below.
Update (07/15/22): Following today’s launch, we now have wider release info for the Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 1. The “Desert Sand” colorway will drop on SNKRS on July 22nd, while the “Black” colorway will drop the same day at select retailers such as Sneaker Politics.
