Original Story (09/19/22): Social Status of James Whitner’s Whitaker Group is back with the official announcement of its Air Max Penny 2 collaboration, following the release of the Air Max Penny 1 “Recess” project earlier this year.
The announcement is accompanied by a short film titled “Playground” directed by the Turner Brothers, continuing the story from the “Recess” and “Free Lunch” short films from previous Social Status x Nike projects.
First leaked back in March, the Social Status Air Max Penny 2 comes in two colorways, Black/White and White/Blue, each a nod to the OG Orlando-themed colorways of the Air Max Penny 2 that first released in 1996. Special features include a mini Penny 2 hangtag and action figure-inspired packaging that nods to the Lil Penny character featured in ’90s Nike commercials.
The Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 2 “Playground” in the Black/White colorway launches on September 30th on the Social Status website, with in-store and online raffles now open. Update (09/29/22): Release for the Black/White colorway has been pushed back to October 13th. A global release will take place on October 19th on SNKRS and at select retailers.
Update (10/21/22): The White/Blue colorway of the Social Status x Nike Air Penny 2 officially drops on November 4th on the Social Status website. Raffles are open from now until November 1st in-store, online, and on The Whitaker Group Discord.
