Sotheby’s celebrates the legacy of the Back to The Future movie franchise with The Future is Back: a single lot, online auction of a rare pair of Nike MAGs (2011 edition) dual signed by Michael J. Fox.

As many of you know, Marty McFly (played by Fox) famously wore the self-lacing shoes in the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II. This iconic moment in sneaker history eventually led to Nike creating real-life power lacing sneakers including the Adapt BB and Air Jordan 11 Adapt.

The Nike MAG 2011 release was limited to 1,500 pairs with profits benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Very few pairs are known to be signed by Michael J. Fox, making this pair an exceptional collector’s item.

The pair will be on public view in Sotheby’s sneaker pop up at FUSEDSPACE (1401 16th Street) in San Francisco from September 14-16 alongside a selection of rare sneakers by Nike, adidas and more from the ’70s to present day. Other rare sneakers on view and available for purchase include the Nike SB Dunk Low “NYC Pigeon” and an OG pair of 1985 “UNC” Air Jordan 1s.

The auction for the Michael J. Fox signed Nike MAG (size 13) opens tomorrow, September 14th and closes on September 23rd at 11:01 AM CDT. Estimated value is $30K-50K. Check out the listing on the Sotheby’s website.
