The K-Swiss comeback continues with a new partnership with Stadium Goods. After teaming up with Leaders 1354 in Chicago and Bricks & Wood of South Central LA earlier in the year, the heritage footwear brand now presents a STADIUM edition of the Si-18 International.
Created in collaboration with STADIUM, the in-house luxury streetwear brand of Stadium Goods, this iteration of the K-Swiss Si-18 International celebrates the silhouette’s rich heritage as a staple tennis shoe of the ’90s and early ’00s. Inspiration for the collaboration’s design came from an unearthed archived sample of the Si-18 International that was tucked away in a warehouse for over a decade, after most of the original samples were long lost.
Both brands decided to bring back the footwear style in all its vintage glory, including original color blocking, OG box, and OG hangtag that illustrates how the shoe’s patented D-R Cinch lacing system works. The tongue tag also features a classic design, though remixed with STADIUM branding and pastel purple and minty green hues. Additional STADIUM branding is found across the heels, while more purple and mint green accents are found throughout the upper and sole unit. Three laces options are included with the shoe.
“The Si-18 is one of the most underrated sneakers of all time,” says Greig Bennett, VP of Brand Creative ad Head Designer at Stadium Goods. Working on this shoe has been a bucket list item of mine, as well as the perfect shoe for STADIUM to collaborate on. In the current climate of everyone doing the same thing it feels like a breath of fresh air to bring something new and dope to our community.”
To celebrate the collaboration, Stadium Goods has created special installations at their Chicago and New York City locations. The Chicago installation features a build-out made out of tennis balls, as well as a table tennis setup with a co-branded table top and paddles.
