Staple Delivers a PUMA Suede Inspired by Yin and Yang

Following the release of the “Pigeon & Crow” Suede in collaboration with atmos, Jeff Staple has reunited with PUMA on a new Suede collab, this time in partnership with Foot Locker.

Dubbed the “Create from Division,” this version of the PUMA Suede draws inspiration from the concept of duality, brought upon by examining the yin-yang symbol and what it represents. This concept was first applied on the Staple x PUMA Clyde “Create From Chaos,” another Foot Locker-exclusive project, making this shoe a sequel of sorts.

With it being Lunar New Year, Staple added an overt reference to Asian culture to the shoe, a red tassel on the laces, which in Chinese culture represents good luck and prosperity. The concept of duality is examined through the use of two different materials, flat and hairy suede. A split design down the tongue and onto the toe box features these materials on the left and right sides, while the side panels come in the opposite texture. Additional details include a yin-yang pigeon on the medial heels, as well as on the tongue tags, the latter also featuring “Create from Chaos” typography.

“The Create from Division Suede was inspired by the concept of dualism and man versus machine – which is reflected in the contrasting textures and patterns throughout the shoe,” says Staple. “The PUMA Suede is the perfect blank canvas – being one of the most instantly recognizable, classic sneaker silhouettes of all time. It’s also awesome to work with Foot Locker for a second time who has been a longtime supporter of sneaker culture and has a wide global reach to fans everywhere.”

The Staple x PUMA Suede “Create from Division” launches on February 10th exclusively on Foot Locker.
