New York City-based menswear designer Todd Snyder adds to his list of New Balance collaborations with a 992 that comes dressed with hits of duck camo. The shoe is inspired by Snyder’s trips to Maine while working on the lodge he designed at Hidden Pond Resort in Kennebunkport.
Translating the pleasures of outdoor life into a shoe, Todd Snyder’s 992 features a duck camo base, with brown suede and leather overlays mimicking the style of duck-hunting jackets. Fire red accents change up the color blocking, adding dimension to the design. The classic thick white midsole is paired with white laces and a white lining to contrast the darker colors of the brown and camo. The shoe is named “From Away,” which Snyder says comes from the fact that “when you spend time in the state, you realize locals are Maine-ahs, and everyone else is From Away.”
