Denim Tears Announces “Georgia Red Clay” ASICS Collab

2

Tremaine Emory is following up his Denim Tears x Converse Chuck 70 with a new sneaker collab, this time teaming up with ASICS on a GEL-MC Plus “Georgia Red Clay” pack.

Storytelling is of the utmost importance to the Emory, evidenced be the Converse collab highlighting the Black struggle in America with a design inspired by David Hammons’ African-American Flag. With this ASICS collab, Emory gives the people insight on his family history with a color palette inspired by the rich red soil of his hometown: Harlem, Georgia. In a text message shared by Emory from his father, it is revealed that both Emory’s grandfather and uncle worked at a company that used red and white clay to make fire bricks and water pipes. These clays are represented in the two GEL-MC Plus colorways: “Burnt Ochre” red and “Angora” white.
