Rock band Foo Fighters are simultaneously celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album and the release of their upcoming record, Medicine at Midnight, with their own hot take of the Vans Sk8-Hi.
Familiar Sk8-Hi notes are seen through the white laces and eyestays and white midsole and gum vulc outsole pairing, but the rest is handed off to band mates Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and keyboardist Rami Jaffee. Though the bandmates took on an “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to the design of their shoe, they’ve revamped the classic into one that shows off their character.
Black uppers are stitched in bright red throughout the shoe’s construction while the white signature Jazz Stripe is replaced with “FF” in large, white script. Other band motifs can be found in the form of 25th anniversary tongue tag and a red “Foo Fighters” spilling along each heel.
The Foo Fighters x Vans Sk8-Hi is set to release January 29th through the Vans webstore and Foo Fighters’ online shop. Vans Family members can purchase the shoe a day earlier on January 28th (sign up here). Also be sure to check out Medicine at Midnight when it’s released February 5.
