As a follow up of last month’s Vans x MoMA collaboration, the duo is back for the release of the second installment of footwear and apparel. The latest iteration of the collaboration takes inspiration from impactful works of art by artists Edvard Munch, Jackson Pollock, Lybov Popova and Faith Ringgold.
Popova’s style of painting is seen as an act of “construction” using color, line and shape to create dimensional work that expressed movement and dynamism. The popular ‘Untitled, 1917’ has taken over the Vans SK8-Hi along with complimenting fleece and ringer tee options.
Acclaimed painter, writer, sculptor, performance artist, educator Faith Ringgold worked closely with Vans and MoMA to uplift her feminist poster art including ‘Woman Free Yourself 1971’ which finds a home on the left side of the Vans Era and ‘Freedom Woman Now 1971’ takes over the right side to form the affirmative demands that were called during the arrest of Angela Davis. The powerful words have also been added to a reversible bucket hat and long sleeve tee. The Classic Slip-on will be included inspired from the artist’s ‘Seven Passages to a Flight’ with an inscribed quote from Ringgold in her handwriting.
Edvard Munch is best-known for his ‘The Scream 1895‘ and a print version has been carefully captured on each of the canvas panels of the iconic Vans Era along with respective apparel and a backpack.
Jackson Pollock’s ‘One: Number 31, 1950’ takes over the Vans Authentic with a digitally printed short sleeve-button down and a matching 5-panel hat.
