The Vans OTW Collection and OffTheWall.TV present the next installment of OTW Perspectives featuring Gilbere Forte. With each episode, the OTW Perspectives series profiles forward-thinking figures in the realms of art, music and street culture to give viewers a candid-yet-intimate understanding of their personas and creative processes. In the newest Perspective, Midwest-raised emcee Gilbere Forte takes us through LA’s Bronson Canyon as he speaks openly on his childhood, musical influences, debut album and creating “audio movies.”

Forte’s attraction to music stems from watching films as a kid. As he got older, Gilbere turned the attraction into a passion. “In my teenage years, I said, ‘how could I create that same emotion that I get from compositions in these films with a hip hop backdrop? How do you make the perfect feeling in a song? How do you create an audio movie?’” he asked himself. Fast forward to present day, Gilbere continues to challenge himself spiritually and artistically as he prepares his first studio album. “I’m really taking the time to learn myself before I even write the music; I want to feel everything because I want you to feel everything when you listen to the music.”
