Vans is set to launch an extensive collection in partnership with Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants. With a little something for everyone, the collection includes a capsule with New York fashion designer Sandy Liang as well as in-line Classics and Customs offerings. This follows a 2018 Vans Vault collab with the animated TV show.
The Sandy Liang capsule includes two iterations of the Sk8-Hi 38 DX. One features a patchwork pattern that juxtaposes designs influenced by Liang’s Chinese heritage with flowery patterns taken from the series. SpongeBob himself appears on the heels. Sandy Liang meets Sandy Cheeks on the second pair, which comes covered in sakura blossoms as a nod to the show’s Texas-born squirrel. Sandy and SpongeBob are joined by Patrick and Squidward on the apparel, consisting of a tee, hoodie, and bucket hat.
The range of Classic footwear, apparel and accessories are fit for fans of all ages. A graphic of SpongeBob holding a rainbow, referencing the famous “Imaginaaation” scene, is featured on a few of the pieces. Patrick Star gets his own mini backpack, dressed in all-pink with a checkerboard pocket. Four different swatches of graphics are included in the Customs collection, which can be applied to any Vans Classic footwear style. One of these features the entire Bikini Bottom cast.
